Cabana Project

We will be moving forward with the Cabana Project this week.

1.  Carrie will confirm that we have the final drawings for the building dept. These will need to be stamped by an engineer.
2.  We will need a meeting with the plumber to go over the plumbing that will be installed through the slab.
3.  We will need a meeting with the electrician to go over lighting options and desires.
4.  Ross will set up meeting with site-work guys to discuss logistics. Cabana foundation. Pool. Main house foundation.
5.  Peter and Mike will discuss carpentry finishes and processes. Currently we are considering board and batten siding, barn board cabinets, Gas fireplace, exposed beams, metal roofing, exposed rafter tails and more.
6.  We will put together a schedule this week.

Notes from Carrie 11.14/12

Plumbing - I forgot to tell the plumber that I also want a hand shower in the upstairs shower. The fixtures, diverter and valve are already in Duxbury.

Brick inside Fireplace – I think we’re OK with the Carrera marble on the outside of the fireplace, but I will still need help with suggestions on the inside. Maybe it is a gray concrete or brick? I don’t care what material as long as it blends and is 4”x 8” herringbone design.

Chimney - I asked Peter to change it on the plans again to reflect the real measurements. He said he would, but he also said for you to just reflect what is there exactly the same distance in the other direction from the center of the house. He is probably avoiding this b/c he doesn't want to go up and measure it. He said it would look fine and it does exist. We will wait on the faux chimney until after the front is on to see if we need it.

Dehumidifier – How much would it be to install that automatic dehumidifier downstairs (where it has a drain). I am interested in doing this. We will price out.

Generator – Not sure if this is the phase to do it, but I want to discuss putting in a generator.

Will get numbers for this. Need to know what you want it to control. Can discuss at electrical walk through.

Refrigerator – I stopped into KAM and met Kent. I will be purchasing the fridge now b/c there’s a good “Black Friday” deal. (Samsung 28 cu feet)  I can set up delivery for whenever you want it. I will get the microwave and dishwasher there too. 

Counter tops – As I shop around, what material do you suggest? (granite, quartz, Silestone, Ceasarstone, etc). I saw that you allowed for Granite at $85 sq ft. Are the other materials the same cost? Need your advice. We often do both granite and Caesar stone. I like Caesarstone on the perimeter and granite as a focal point on an island.

Other - Although we discussed these things, but I didn't see them outlined in the contract, so I’m not sure (but hoping) they are included:

• Barn door - The barn door is not included in the budget. We spoke about getting somehing from salvage. So it would just be a charge for hardware.
• Fireplace - I think that the inside of the fireplace should remain brick. That outside can be whatever tile you would like. There is no allowance for this at the moment.
• Bunk Beds These have not been included. We will be building some for our beach house project and can have you look at those. They are inexpensive to build.
• Outside house color – wanted a gray wash look to the shingles. I recommend going with untreated white cedar shingles. This is what we have built into the budget and they will grey nicely on there own.

Lighting – are 5” recessed lights what you usually use? I noticed they are 4” in kitchen but 5” everywhere else? Don’t want them too big looking. Can discuss at electrical walk through.

Exterior door lighting – there is nothing stated. Should I plan on something by every door? Recessed outside under front porch? Can discuss at electrical walk through.

Bath vanity for upstairs - 
That has been delivered and is downstairs in the wood room. It has a basin, just needs the counter top. I gave Ross the counter top selection with the bath tiles so you guys can order.
